About
I Was Born Thirsty.
Thirsty for adventure, connection, life, and love. That thirst was real and it was good — until ten days after my fourth birthday, when everything shifted. Something happened in my community that replaced that thirst with something much darker. Fear moved in and took up permanent residence, and for decades, I didn't know how to make it leave.
Fear followed me into motherhood. After my boys were born, it deepened into obsession — a relentless, exhausting need to protect them from a world I'd learned could be dangerous. My nights were one long nightmare. My days were spent bracing for the next thing that could go wrong.
And then I discovered that wine was very good at making fear quiet down.
My Fake Best Friend
Alcohol became my closest companion. She was always available, never judged me, and offered a soft place to land at the end of every hard day. She made the noise stop. For a while.
But she was also stealing from me — quietly, consistently, and with a smile.
She took time away from my husband and my boys. She stole my flexibility, my spontaneity, and my health. I developed Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and adrenal burnout. Depression settled in. Migraines became routine. I tried everything — bio-identical hormones, nutrition changes, kickboxing, daily nature walks, cutting gluten. I did everything I could think of to feel better.
Everything except give up my best friend.
How could I? She was helping me survive raising teenagers and watching my oldest leave for college. Or so I told myself.
February 28, 2018
That was the day everything changed.
I was still struggling — physically, emotionally, spiritually. That morning, a college-age friend said something simple that landed like a lightning bolt: "It's all in your mindset."
I decided, right then, that I was done white-knuckling my way through life with alcohol as a crutch. I broke up with my fake best friend.
The first three months were hard. But then I found Annie Grace and the This Naked Mind method — and it blew my mind. Science, psychology, and a completely different way of seeing alcohol. I dove deep, got certified as a Senior Life Coach through the This Naked Mind Institute, and never looked back.
I found serenity. And I've been building on it ever since.
Who I Am Today
My name is Carolyn Bennett. I'm a Senior Certified Life Coach through the This Naked Mind Institute, an Ecotherapy Practitioner, and I'm currently completing my certification in HeartMath Trauma Sensitivity.
I've been living alcohol-free since February 2018 — not because I had to, but because I finally understood what I was truly thirsty for. And alcohol was never it.
I specialize in coaching people who are navigating life after alcohol, often alongside other kinds of recovery — from toxic relationships, from trauma, from the slow erosion of living a life that never quite felt like their own. I've come to recognize that addiction to a toxic substance and attachment to a poisonous relationship have more in common than most people realize. Both promise comfort. Both steal life. And both release their grip when we finally see them clearly.
I also have a deep heart for empaths and highly sensitive people — those of us who feel everything deeply, who absorb the emotions of others, and who often turned to alcohol simply to turn the volume down. I help sensitive people stop managing their gifts and start embracing them.
And I believe, with everything in me, that nature is one of our greatest allies in healing. Daily time in the natural world isn't a luxury — it's medicine. It's one of the things that saved me, and it's something I love teaching others to lean into.

I'm thirsty again.
Thirsty for deep connection, for laughter, for presence, for the kind of adventures that don't require recovery the next morning. The thirst I was born with — for life, for love, for meaning — it came back. Clearer and truer than it ever was before.
That's what I want for you.
